Permobil is a global leader in advanced mobility solutions, supporting people with disabilities to live more independent and fulfilling lives. More than products, the brand carries a strong sense of responsibility to the communities it serves and recognises that meaningful support extends beyond hardware alone. As a result, Permobil engaged R3 in a desire to engage and better develop connections with it’s target audiences by developing a new digital community platform. The objective was to build a space that enabled the sharing of practical ideas and experiences, foster engagement with end users and positively (yet subtly) reinforce the support offered by Permobil.

The opportunity

The intention of the community platform was not to sell products, but rather to offer value through content that felt relevant and human. The project came with several important considerations. First, the platform needed a clear and compelling name. Second, the visual identity had to complement Permobil’s global brand. Third, the platform needed to be a website that the local team could manage independently and without being directly connected to the main Permobil brand. From a technical perspective, the solution also needed to be delivered within HubSpot so that it aligned with Permobil’s internal systems and global requirements. Requirements evolved as the project progressed, with shifting timelines and emerging constraints. Therfore the challenge was to maintain delivery to timeline and quality, while simultaenously responding to change in a practical and constructive way.

The approach

R3 worked closely with the Permobil team in a highly collaborative and iterative way. A key early contribution was the identification and creation of the platform name, ‘Beyond’. The name was designed to communicate optimism, to be forward-looking and connect with the users who see their lives beyond their disabilities. Importantly, there was a need to keep the Beyond brand grounded in Permobil’s purpose and values and this consideration served as a key influence for the visual elements for Beyond. A considered colour palette, typography and graphic treatments were delivered, creating a look that felt welcoming and expressive whilst still maintaining a clear connection to the Permobil brand.

Throughout the process, R3 also worked alongside Permobil’s marketing team to clarify content, provide guidance on structure and messaging as well as supporting copy development where needed. The emphasis was on making decisions that balanced creativity with practicality so that the project could be executed within the available tools and timeframes.

Delivery and implementation

The Beyond platform was delivered as a fully functional website built on HubSpot’s Content Management System, in line with Permobil’s technical requirements. This involved navigating the constraints of existing templates, global modules and brand governance, while still delivering a site that felt distinct, intuitive and easy to use.

R3’s flexible and adaptable operation combined with technical expertise throughout the build ensured that adapting designs, resolving platform limitations and adjusting the approach as requirements changed were handled with ease. Regular collaboration and open communication meant that issues were addressed quickly and progress remained steady despite shifting parameters.

Impact

Beyond now provides Permobil with a dedicated community platform that supports engagement, storytelling and connection. It offers a space where practical advice, shared experiences and useful resources can sit independent but aligned to the broader Permobil ecosystem in a way that feels purposeful and accessible. Internally, the project delivered a solution that the team could take ownership of, supported by clear systems and a platform that fits naturally within their existing workflows. Externally, it reinforces Permobil’s commitment to its community by extending the brand into a more conversational and human space.

This project reflects R3’s ability to deliver high-quality outcomes through collaboration, adaptability and technical expertise. It demonstrates how a solutions-focused mindset paired with creativity and capability can come together to support clients that are navigating complex requirements. For Permobil, Beyond represents an investment in connection and community. For R3, it reinforces the importance of being easy to work with, being responsive to change and committed to delivering solutions that work in the real world.
